About

Synergy Collective are Marta Stysiak, cinematographer and Zbigniew Kotkiewicz , intermedia artist. They started their collaboration in 2008.

‘Synergy’, a video that they made together was awarded third prize in Third International Festival of Experimental Film and Video Art in Rybnik, Poland In October 2008 and has been shown as a part of the ‘Optimistic Immigrants’ screenings in London (2008) and Brighton (2009).

In June 2009 the 'Synergy' was included in the 'RePlace' exhibition in London, curated by [noplaceprojects*].

Stysiak and Kotkiewicz pursue further collaboration and currently are developing their new film project under the name ‘Synergy Collective’.

"We aim to create a communicative, thoughtful and visually powerful moving image works through galvanising the experience of all members of the ‘Synergy Collective’; bringing our different individual artistic skills from the fields of cinematography, writing and new media art. We want to be an open group and consider collaboration with other creative individuals such as directors, actors and sonic artists.

We are interested in exploring borderline sites and areas, and terms such as fate and accident, temporary and random events, ‘grey zone’, migration, functions of objects, becoming an object, and useful vs. useless.

Our goal is to explore and expand the moving image’s vocabulary. We aim not only to experiment with visual clichés and innovations but also to play around with narratives and storytelling."
